Du 5 au 7 janvier, Fabrice Cotinat de la galerie du cartable/Châteauroux Underground anime un workshop à l'école de Beaux-arts de PAU, qui commencera avec une grande conférence sur son oeuvre et le style et les métodes de travail de la galerie du cartable et le projection des films : L'atelier du figurant ou "Henrique fais des spaguets' ! On va abolir l'emploi ! ", pièce dramatique pour un groupe d'art plastique et machines, et les dialogues fictifs #4 (Pasolini/Wahrol), # 5 (Marie-Madeleine/Elvis Presley) & # 9 (Robert Filiou "Chercher Cinéma").

Superior Art School of Pau hosts a workshop by Fabrice Cotinat from la galerie du cartable/Châteauroux Underground from today to Friday : big conference about his work and the galerie du cartable's method & style + projections of the movies : The Studio of the Extra or "Henrique, Make spaghettis ! We will abolish the employment !", dramatic piece for artists group & machines, and The Shadow's Dialogues # 4 (Pasolini/Wahrol), # 5 (Maria-Magdalena/Elvis Presley) & # 9 (Robert Filiou & Luang-Prabang Art chool's Students).

APNÉ - CLIMATS OUVERTS (NANTES 06/05 TO 08/16)

During this Summer occurs in Nantes & Saint-Nazaire, Britanny, France, the Biennale de l'Estuaire.
APNE is a group of artists and students of the Nantes's Fine Arts School, leaded by Michel Aubry and David Legrand, who works on the creation of a new Fine Arts School : new in the pedagogic methods and the building. Their reflexion is centred on the charactere of Eric Von Stroheim's ghost (played by David Legrand) who appears in our time and discusses about the art of today.
Last year, APNE created a "Musique Concrete" Light Opera (music composed by Rainier Lericolais). This year, they convite the audience to assist at the shooting of the last scenes of the movie "La Visite des Écoles d'art" during June. In July, the movie will be shown in his intregality (5 hours), all days at the Art Center Lieu Unique.

From Feb. 5th to April 4th,in the art center "Le Parvis", located in Tarbes (South-West of France), you can see the exhibition of swiss artist John Armleder and french sculptor and musicologist Michel Aubry, curated by Jean-François Dumont, an under-estimated curator and ex-director of the Decimus Magnus galery in Bordeaux.
Amleder reactivated the exhibition he made in the same place 10 years ago ("Wall Paintings 1967-1997"). Aubry re-built - with his own style - a part of the 1925 Melnikov's Pavilion of the USSR at International Exhibition of
Arts and Crafts in Paris and the Fratellini's dressing room as described by Rodchenko.
"La galerie du cartable"(David Legrand, Fabrice Cotinat and Henrique Martins-Duarte) was invited to write and shoot a movie with Armleder and Aubry, but also with the ghosts of Erich Von Stroheim and Rodchenko, talking about the exhibition, the meanings inducted by the repetition and reenactment on their own practices.
This movie is in the same spirit of other made by la galerie du cartable with Michel Aubry (listed here) and the "Shadows's Dialogues" : poetic, burlesque and controversial.
The movies made by Michel Aubry and some by la galerie du cartable are scheduled at VidéoK.01 in Pau (near Tarbes) until April 11th.

Manoel de Oliveira is the oldest active film director in the world and one of the most aventurous. He's the only alive director to have shoot at the time of the silents films. He's the best and prolific portuguese film-maker and one of the best of the world. And he's the most underrated film-maker in his own country ! Cabrões de portugueses do caralho.
And he celebrates today his 100th birthday !

TOUS LES CHEMINS PASSENT PAR OTHON

"Tous les chemins passent par Othon" ("All the roads pass by Othon") is a movie directed by la galerie du cartable (Fabrice Cotinat, David Legrand, Henrique Martins-Duarte). It's a new version of "Les Yeux ne veulent pas en tout temps se fermer, ou Peut-être qu'un jour Rome se permettra de choisir à son tour" (Eyes Do Not Want to Close at All Times, or, Perhaps One Day Rome Will Allow Herself to Choose in Her Turn), a 1969 movie by french radical directors Straub et Huillet.

"Tous les chemins passent par Othon" is like a "dogma 95" version of the original film, shoot from 2000 to 2003, with non-professionals actors, in various french cities where la galerie du cartable was invited to perform.
It will be spread during the exhibition "Le Couloir des Miroirs/ The Corridors of Mirrors" in Limoges, at the FRAC Limousin (Contemporary Art Foundation) every two days, from November 21st till March 7th.

This exhibition will show art movies by Mac Adams, Michel Aubry, Thomas Bayrle, Laurent Chambert, Claude Closky, Jean-Pierre Bertrand, Gregg Biermann, Philippe Durand, Gabriele Di Matteo, Franck Eon, Thomas Köner, la galerie du cartable, Olivier Leroi, Sébastien Leroy, Gilles Mahé, Christian Marclay, Stéphane Pichard, André Raffray, Jean Sabrier, Muriel Toulemonde, Kerry Tribe, Boyd Webb.

La galerie du cartable produit et réalise depuis 2004 une série de films intitulée "Les Dialogues fictifs" où sont mis en situation et en action des personnalités de l'art ou de la culture, chaque épisode recevant un traitement différent.
Le dialogue fictif n°9 sur l'artiste fluxus Robert Filiou au Laos (images de tournage ici) sera édité en DVD par Bandits-Mages en 2009, avec en bonus les bandes-annonces des autres dialogues fictifs.

La Galerie du cartable (the satchel gallery) wrote and directed since 2004 a series of short movies entitled "Shadows's Dialogues" which dead or fictitious figures of art or culture are in action. A different a different processing is given to each episode.
The Shadows's dialogue No. 9 about fluxus artist Robert Filiou in Laos (shooting pictures here) will be published in DVD in 2009, by the association Bandits-Mages, with bonus trailers of the others dialogues.

LA GALERIE DU CARTABLE AU LAOS

Depuis 1999, la galerie du cartable diffuse, produit et réalise des films. Du 17 novembre au 4 décembre, elle a été invitée par l'association Bandits-Mages à la Seconde Biennale de l'Image de Luang Prabang, Laos.
Pour l'occasion, la galerie du cartable a conçu un tournage avec des étudiants, enseignants et habitants de la ville autour de l'artiste Fluxus Robert Filliou.

Hier soir, toujours pendant le festival "Premiers Plans", Loin du Viet-Nam (1967), film collectif réalisé par Alain Resnais, Jean-Luc Godard, Joris Ivens, William Klein, Claude Lelouch, Agnès Varda (chercher l'intrus), produit et monté par Chris Marker, le fantastique Chris Marker, l'indispensable Chris Marker, et avec la participation de Marceline Loridan, François Maspero, Jacques Sternberg, Bernard Fresson et en Guests Stars le encore jeune Fidel Castro et le déjà vieux Ho Chi Minh.

"Les Américains déversent chaque jour mille tonnes de bombe sur le Nord Vietnam. 150 cinéastes, scénaristes, reporters, techniciens et dessinateurs de haut niveau décident d'apporter leur collaboration à ce film. Ils filment au nord et au sud Vietnam, dans les rues de Hanoï et dans les villages, mais aussi aux Etats-Unis, où se multiplient les manifestations, à Paris, à Cuba et dans les points chauds du globe. Documentaire et fiction s'y rejoignent pour dire non à cette' guerre des riches contre les pauvres" (www.cinebel.be)

C'est dingue comme les films de cette époque résonnent toujours aujourd'hui, de manière inquiétante.

En ce moment, à Angers, dans le cadre du festival "Premiers Plans", est projeté l'intégrale des films d'un de mes cinéastes préférés : Pier Paolo PASOLINI.
This days, the "Premiers Plans" Festival in Angers : The films by one of my favorites directors : Pier Paolo Pasolini : the well-known as well as the almost unseen work of the Italian director in its diversity.

J'ai passé samedi dernier au cinéma, à cavaler entre trois salles, à ronchonner contre les files d'attente, les changements de salle intmepestifs et les odeurs de pieds, de bouche et de sueur de mes voisins d'infortune.

Donc samedi dernier : de 10h30 à 00h30, un programme velu. 4 films, du tout premier "Accatone" au tout dernier "Salo ou les 120 jours de Sodome", en passant par "L'Évangile selon St Matthieu" et "Les Mille et Une nuits". Rien que les titres permet de voir la variété dont fait preuve ce cinéaste hors norme.

Malgré tout, quel plaisir de voir au cinéma, sur grand écran ce que je ne connaissais que par VHS ou DVD.
Et quelle émotion de voir Nineeeettoooooo Davoli, l'acteur fétiche de Paso, en chair (et bien en chair), en os, en cheveux blancs et en toute simplicité : souriant, drôle, espiègle et visiblement heureux d'être là, avec nous.
