LE BERRYTHON VOL.3 - RETURN TO THE LAST SALOON (1982-2012)

Alicerabbit's friends & followers, here comes the last volume of the Berrython serie ! 

More non-sense, more sound art, more freaky covers and experimental lost recordings.

In this edition, you will heard early works of That Summer and Rainier Lericolais, fragments of Marine Radiophique (a local radioshow active in the middle of the 1980's), extracts from french TV & radio broadcasts, some experimental electronic records, many recent stuff and a few historical recordings.

Tracks are selected, compiled and mixed in a joyful mess by Rainier Lericolais, ripped in a glorious 320 and provided here with Hi-Res definition covers.

Another collaboration between AliceRabbit & L'Art Pénultième Éditions (after the Dead Mauriacs's Suite and Carnet de Notes 25 compilation - not available since the megaupload crash, but soon, I promise, it will be on the net again !), I only can thanking HOP for his beautiful works.


As he said : "This music was created for a silent short movie realised by kids in a high school using singing bowls, metal springs, fishing reels, strings, tape manipulation, everything played and assembled on a computer in two days.
The black and white movie is adapted from a short novel by Guy de Maupassant, Le Horla".

"The Power of bang bang" reviewed !

OK, this is just utterly wrong. Utterly wrong, yet… somehow… strangely… compelling... It’s a 12 minute—12 minute—mash-up of Coil, Nancy Sinatra and Frankie Goes to Hollywood doing “Bang Bang.” I haven’t heard something this nauseating in years. I dare you to listen to all of it. Dare you. It’s like the kind of thing Dean Stockwell’s character in Blue Velvet would sing if he was courting Sigfried and Roy from a crane being slowly, ever-so-slowly lowered in front of the water fountain by the Bellagio in Vegas, with sparkling fireworks flying in the background, dropping their effervescent twinkling sparkles across an audience in which even the stoniest, meanest Vegas bouncers slowly wiped tears from their eyes. Trust me, that’ll make sense when you listen to this… if you dare. If you manage to make it through the whole thing, post your response below so we can share the pain.

ADRIANA PELIANO & ANVIL FX - ALICE NO PAIS DAS MAS ERVILHAS (Brasil, 1998)

The title is a pun : the translation in portuguese of "wonderland" is "paìs das maravilhas". "Màs ervilhas" means "bad peas"... ouh ouh ouh !
It's a deconstruction of the Disney's movie soundtrack (in portuguese), made by the cd-player of Adriana Peliano. The result is a random issue of the audio disc's very interesting, sometimes subverting the text, sometimes creating an effect of stuttering fun.
I found it in the fabulous brasilian blog "the strange world of PB"

RANDY GREIF - ALICE IN WONDERLAND [alternate links]

Staalplaat (1991) / Soleilmoon - SOL55CD (2000)
As discogs says : Randy Greif's "Alice in Wonderland" was first released on the Staalplaat label in the Netherlands between 1991 and 1993. The series was very limited in number and has been out of print since the initial pressings. For this reissue, the sound has been remastered, and the artwork and packaging redesigned. The total playing time is approximately 6 hours of what has been described as challenging listening electronic soundscapes, deconstructed text and computer manipulations.
As I say : Try it ! It's great !

ALICE IS DEAD

ALICE Coltrane, the jazz musician who was closely linked with the music of her late husband, legendary US saxophonist John Coltrane, has died at the age of 69 in Los Angeles.
She died on Friday at West Hills Hospital and Medical Centre of respiratory failure.
A pianist and organist, Coltrane was noted for her astral compositions and for bringing the harp onto the jazz bandstand.
Alice Coltrane, veuve de John Coltrane, créatrice d'une musique alliant les expérimentations du free jazz à la sérénité de la musique indienne, est morte vendredi dernier, à 69 ans.
Elle restera comme celle qui a fait que Coltrane devienne un géant du jazz en s'aventurant dans le free, celle qui a sorti la harpe du domaine classique et celle qui a inspiré la fusion des traditions musicales.

Alice ne trouva pas non plus tellement bizarre d’entendre le Lapin se dire à mi-voix : « Oh, mon Dieu ! Oh, mon Dieu ! Je vais être en retard ! » (Lorsqu’elle y réfléchit par la suite, il lui vint à l’esprit qu’elle aurait dû s’en étonner, mais, sur le moment, cela lui sembla tout naturel) ; cependant, lorsque le Lapin tira bel et bien une montre de la poche de son gilet, regarda l’heure, et se mit à courir de plus belle, Alice se dressa d’un bond, car, tout à coup, l’idée lui était venue qu’elle n’avait jamais vu de lapin pourvu d’une poche de gilet, ni d’une montre à tirer de cette poche. Dévorée de curiosité, elle traversa le champ en courant à sa poursuite, et eut la chance d’arriver juste à temps pour le voir s’enfoncer comme une flèche dans un large terrier placé sous la haie.




There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, `Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!' (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.
