RE-POST/THE RESIDENTS - THE WARNER BROS. ALBUM

In 1971 the group sent a reel-to-reel tape to Hal Halverstadt, who worked with Captain Beefheart, at Warner Brothers. Because the band had not included any name in the return address, the rejection slip was simply addressed to "The Residents". The members of the group then decided that this would be the name they would use, first becoming Residents Unincorporated, then shortening it to the current name.
Tonight, they will play in Paris and I'll be there !

To a Residents fan - especially one that digs the early era, the Warner Brothers Album is almost a holy grail.

The 'music' (if you can call it that) is horrid. However, it is a wonderful glimpse at the formation of the art commune that would become The Residents.

Once Clem and Kennedy left the Cryptic Corporation commune, the artistic brilliance of the Residents noticeably dulled (in my opinion).
Anything with them involved is a great find.

Thanks!

So-How'd you like "Talking Light", Armeur H?
I agree with Baker- the music is pretty bad, but they made huge strides forward with Baby Sex, which is Great. Still, to hear this is a treat for a fan of the olden-days Residents. Thanks for this post!

"talking light" was very disapointing. When I saw them in Paris, it was the first time I could see the residents live, but not alive. "Smelly Tongues" cover was great, the show was boring. Baker is right. Nothing good after "god in 3 persons"

please note that I made the published cover picture. It's based on some guides from a Renaldo and the Loaf member.
I own a digital (first generation) copy of the master which I re-mastered (for my own use).
